Bristol's new stadium

New Bristol stadium

The centrepiece of Bristol bid to host the FIFA 2018 World Cup will be its new state of art 44,000 all-seater stadium. The Stadium will be the new home of Bristol City Football Club and within view of the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. It will provide one of the most inspiring and iconic images of a FIFA World Cup in England, breaking new ground in stadium design.

Its design, unique to English football, has been chosen to create an unrivalled and exciting atmosphere with unbroken 'banks' of fans around the pitch. Football fans have been involved in every stage of the design process to ensure that the supporter experience will be at the heart of every match day.

The stadium’s design will act as a benchmark for future sustainable developments. An advanced rainwater harvesting facility will provide pitch irrigation and the water supply for the stadium's toilet flushing requirements. It will also boast the latest thermal performance design standards, cutting air leakage by 50 percent and reducing the building’s carbon footprint. Its lightweight and translucent facade will also reduce the demand on artificial lighting and the development of a new local wildlife and wetlands area adjacent to the stadium will add to its ethical and sustainable legacy for the region.
